How to use Charcoal
Incense burners
What you will need: Your resin, herb or powder; Charcoal discs; a bowl urn or plate that can withstand the heat. Earthen ware or brass is best, avoid glass. Sand is often used in the container to help absorb the heat from the charcoal; a small set of tongs; a lighter.
1: Light the charcoal and place it in your bowl or urn. Hold the edge of the charcoal with the tongs and apply flame to the edge of the disc for about 20 secs. The disc will then self ignite across the surface. You should see a red glow which means the charcoal is burning.
2: Wait for the charcoal to ignite and warm up. This usually takes 3 mins. The charcoal will start to go grey at the edges.
3: Add your resin, herb or powder. Place a small amount on top of the charcoal. It will begin to burn and release their oils through the smoke. Scrape off and replenished herbs every 10 mins for a smoky burn.
4: Allow charcoal to burn and cool completely before removing the debris.
