FUNCTIONS
GROUP: Clear Heat, dry Dampness 
1. Supports healthy fluid metabolism in the lower portion of the body (“dries dampness”). Also “clears heat” which is to say regulates the inflammatory response often indicated by the presence of swollen, red joints.
INDICATIONS
1. Damp-Heat in the Lower Heater
2. Weakness of bones and sinews due to Liver and Kidney deficiency
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Pregnancy
INGREDIENTS
Phellodendri 黃栢Huang Bai 12g Drains Damp-Heat especially from the lower Heater and drains Kidney Fire. Huang Bai clears heat and eliminates dampness.
Atractylodis- 蒼术 Jin cang zhu- Soaked 18g Strongly clears Dampness from the Lower Jiao, expels Wind-Dampness and tonifies the Spleen. Eliminates Dampness and clears Heat. Cang Zhu dries dampness,
Coix seeds- 薏苡仁Yi yi ren
Cyathulae 懷牛膝 Huai niu xi 6g Invigorates the Blood, dispels Blood Stasis, expels Wind, drains Dampness, tonifies the Kidneys and Liver and strengthens the tendons and bones.
Achyranthis Bidentatae Huai Niu Xi (6g)Niu Xi supplements the liver and kidneys on the one hand and guides the other two medicinals to the lower part of the body on the other.
(Zingiberis Recens Sheng Jiang 3g Normalizes the flow of Qi at the center. )

Dries dampness or regulates the fluid metabolism in order to maintain a swelling-free state in the body.
Huai Niu Xi 懷牛膝 achyranthes root Archyanthis bidentatae Radix [don’t use if pregnant]

This is a guiding herb that will direct the benefits of this formula to the legs.
Yi Yi Ren 薏苡仁 coix seeds, Job’s tears Semen Coicis Lachrymae Jobi [don’t use if pregnant]

This is a tonic herb added to this formula in order to extend the benefits of the other herbs in this formula further into the future. While the other herbs maintain proper functioning of the inflammatory response and fluid metabolism, this herb supports the organs in charge of these actions.
