FUNCTIONS
GROUP: Regulate the Blood and stop bleeding
1. Hemostatic and analgesic.[1,2]
2. Resolves clots and buises, reduces swelling.[1,2]
INDICATIONS
1. Bleeding due to external injuries.[1,2] Hemoptysis.[1,2] Epistaxis.[1,2] Gastric bleeding, bleeding in tooth extraction. Hematemesis, hematuria.
2. Rheumatoid arthritis.[1]
PREPARATIONS: Decoction. Dry leaf  10-20 g.[1,2]
Whole plant 15-30 g.[1] Dry leaf 3-15g.[2]
 The whole plant may be crushed for application over wound.[1]


HABITAT: Growing wild in alpine forests.
DESCRIPTION: Deciduous shrub 3 m in height. Smaller branches covered by yellowish-brown hairs. Leaves; opposite, ovate-elliptic or elliptic, apexes acuminate, bases obtuse, rounded or broadly cuneate, margins serrated, dorsal surface covered densely by downy hairs and glandular dots, petioles short. Flowers; in autumn, small purple axillary flowers appear to form cymose inflorescences. Berry; purplish-red.
